TAI (Temps Atomique International) is a high-precision atomic time standard computed by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM). It is based on the combined output of some 450 atomic clocks worldwide.
Unlike UTC, TAI does not include leap seconds, so it runs continuously without adjustments. As of January 1, 2017, TAI is 37 seconds ahead of UTC. This offset changes whenever a leap second is added to UTC.
