Cosmic Ray Energy Calculator
Calculate properties of cosmic ray particles
About Cosmic Rays
Cosmic rays are high-energy particles from space, mostly protons and atomic nuclei. Their energies span from GeV to beyond 10²⁰ eV (the" Oh-My-God" particle).
Energy Landmarks:
- "Knee": ~3x10^15 eV (spectral steepening)
- "Ankle": ~4x10^18 eV (transition to extragalactic)
- GZK cutoff: ~5x10^19 eV (CMB interaction limit)
Major Observatories:
- Pierre Auger (Argentina): UHECR > 10^18 eV
- Telescope Array (Utah): UHECR
- IceCube (South Pole): Neutrinos
