Neutrino Oscillation Calculator
Calculate neutrino flavor oscillation probabilities
About Neutrino Oscillations
Neutrino oscillations occur because mass eigenstates differ from flavor eigenstates. A neutrino created in one flavor can be detected as another flavor after propagation.
Two-Flavor Formula:
P(να→νβ) = sin²(2θ) × sin²(1.27 × Δm² × L/E)
Current Best-Fit Parameters:
- |Δm²₃₂| ≈ 2.5 × 10⁻³ eV² (atmospheric)
- Δm²₂₁ ≈ 7.5 × 10⁻⁵ eV² (solar)
- sin²(2θ₁₂) ≈ 0.85, sin²(2θ₂₃) ≈ 1, sin²(2θ₁₃) ≈ 0.09
Major Experiments:
- T2K, NOvA: Long-baseline accelerator
- Daya Bay, JUNO: Reactor neutrinos
- Super-K, IceCube: Atmospheric
