A stem and leaf plot is a way to display quantitative data graphically while retaining all data values. Each number is split into a stem (leading digit(s)) and a leaf (trailing digit).
How to read:
- The stem is on the left of the vertical line
- The leaves are on the right, representing individual values
- Reading stem 3 | 5 7 9 means values 35, 37, 39
Advantages: Shows distribution shape, preserves original data values, easy to find median and mode.
