GOLD 2023 ABE Classification

Group A: Low symptoms (CAT <10) + Low exacerbation risk

Group B: High symptoms (CAT ≥10) + Low exacerbation risk

Group E: Any symptoms + High exacerbation risk (≥2 moderate OR ≥1 hospitalization)

Disclaimer: The CAT is a patient-completed questionnaire to assess COPD impact. GOLD classification also requires spirometry (FEV1) for severity staging. Treatment decisions should be made in consultation with a healthcare provider. This tool does not replace pulmonary function testing.
