About Superconductors

Superconductors exhibit zero electrical resistance and perfect diamagnetism below their critical temperature. BCS theory explains conventional superconductivity through Cooper pair formation.

Key BCS Relations:

  • Δ(0) = 1.764 kBTc (energy gap)
  • Hc(T) = Hc(0)[1 - (T/Tc)²]
  • kappa < 1/sqrt(2): Type I, kappa > 1/sqrt(2): Type II

Types:

  • Type I: Complete Meissner effect
  • Type II: Mixed state with vortices
  • HTS: High-temperature (T > 77K possible)
