Three-Tier (Traditional) Model

  • 0-1: Low risk (1.3%)
  • 2-4: Moderate risk (16.2%)
  • > 4: High risk (37.5%)

Two-Tier (Simplified) Model

  • ≤4: PE unlikely (12.1%)
  • > 4: PE likely (37.1%)

Diagnostic Algorithm

Low risk: PERC rule first, then D-dimer if PERC positive
Moderate risk: D-dimer, CTPA if positive
High risk: Direct to CTPA
