Chromatic Aberration Calculator
Estimate and understand chromatic aberration in your lenses. CA causes color fringing at high-contrast edges.

Types of Chromatic Aberration
Lateral (Transverse) CA
Color fringing at edges of frame. Increases toward corners. Correctable in software.
Axial (Longitudinal) CA
Color fringing in front/behind focus plane. Purple/green bokeh fringing. Reduced by stopping down.
Minimizing CA
- Choose lenses with ED/LD/fluorite glass
- Stop down 1-2 stops from wide open
- Enable in-camera or lens profile corrections
- Use defringe tools in post-processing
