Clinical Pearl

qSOFA is a screening tool for patients with suspected infection outside the ICU. A score ≥2 indicates need for further sepsis evaluation and possible ICU admission.

Score Interpretation

0: Low risk, not suggestive of sepsis

2: High risk - evaluate for sepsis
3: Very high risk - urgent evaluation

Next Steps

- If qSOFA ≥2: Calculate full SOFA score
- Consider blood cultures before antibiotics
- Lactate measurement recommended
- Early fluid resuscitation if indicated
