About FIP

FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) measures what a pitcher's ERA should be based only on strikeouts, walks, hit batters, and home runs. The formula is: FIP = ((13*HR) + (3*(BB+HBP)) - (2*K)) / IP + constant. Unlike ERA, FIP removes the influence of defense and luck on batted balls.
